The lip fillers we use at Aesthetix are a next generation injectable gel. This natural gel acts as a skin ‘filler’ which enhances volume and structure to skin and aiding lip augmentation.

The lip filler is used as a lip enhancer, providing a natural look and feel.

The gel is carefully injected beneath the surface of the skin to provide fullness and definition to the lips and to treat lip wrinkles.

HOW DO LIPS CHANGE WITH AGE?

There are natural substances in the skin such as elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid that provide the skin with volume and structure, and which can decrease with age. This, in combination with environmental factors including exposure to sunlight, stress and smoking all contribute to the way that our skin ages.

The lips have an extremely thin outer layer, which becomes progressively thinner as the body ages. Over time the corners of the mouth can begin to droop (mouth frown), the v-shaped area of the upper lip known as Cupid’s Bow begins to flatten out and the lips lose their fullness. Vertical lip lines can also begin to appear, causing lipstick to bleed.

HOW DO THE LIP FILLERS ENHANCE MY LIPS?

By treating the border of the upper and/or lower lip, the lip is enhanced, contoured and defined. Lip volume can also be enhanced when the filler is used in the lip body resulting in lip augmentation.

HOW AND WHY DO WRINKLES FORM?

When we use our muscles to form facial expressions, there are many facial wrinkles that occur. These wrinkles that appear during facial expressions are called dynamic wrinkles. When our skin is young, the skin springs back to its original “at rest” position, allowing these wrinkles to disappear, but as we get older these wrinkles stay on the skin. These wrinkles and folds that are present when the skin is at rest are called static wrinkles. Static wrinkles develop because natural substances such as hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin that provide the skin with structure and volume decrease with age. This contributes to the creation of wrinkles and folds along with environmental factors such as smoking, stress and exposure to sunlight.

AT OUR LIP FILLER BRISBANE CLINIC LIP FILLERS CAN BE USED TO:

  • Enhance lip borders
  • Augment the lips
  • Improve ‘Smoker’s lines’ which are vertical lines on the mouth
  • Improve ‘Marionette lines’ at the corner of the mouth

HOW DOES THE LIP FILLER SMOOTH OUT WRINKLES?

In contrast with injections that relax wrinkles to treat dynamic wrinkles, by relaxing the facial muscles that are involved in wrinkle-causing facial expressions, our lip filler is positioned below the surface of the skin to literally ‘plump up’ or ‘fill in’ the static wrinkles that are present when the skin is at rest. The filler is used to reduce the depth of static wrinkles and create a natural and more revitalized appearance. Lip augmentation and enhancement also result by volumizing the lip.

WHAT IS THE LIP FILLER MADE OF?

Our injectable lip filler gel is made from a naturally occurring complex sugar substance called Hyaluronic Acid (Hy-al-ur-onic Acid). Hyaluronic Acid is found within the cells and tissues of living organisms, including in human skin. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) helps with skin hydration by attracting water and holding it within the tissues, and also combines with both elastin and collagen to support skin structure and elasticity.

The Hyaluronic Acid in our smooth injectable gel is not derived from animals and is made and purified by the manufacturer specifically for the smoothing of wrinkles and lip enhancement.

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE AND HOW LONG DOES THE RESULT LAST?

Lip injections in our Brisbane Clinic is a non-surgical procedure during which a small number of injections are administered by a qualified medical professional. Your specialist may decide to apply a topical cream or local anaesthetic to help desensitize the area being treated. The lip injections we use contain some local anaesthetic to make your lip augmentation procedure more comfortable. Most people are able to resume their regular activities immediately following the procedure. The results you obtain should last for at least 6 months.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS FROM LIP FILLERS?

Because the Hyaluronic Acid in our lip filler is naturally present within the skin and is not obtained from animals, there is no need for allergy test prior to treatment. HA lip fillers have been studied clinically for many years and trials have shown that the injectable gel is generally well tolerated.

The lip injection itself should cause little discomfort, and if any side effects are experienced, they are generally temporary injection site-related effects, most of which should last no more than 3 days. It’s possible that patients may experience redness at the injection site, pain, swelling, lumps/bumps, firmness/hardness, itching, bruising or discolouration. Most people can return to their regular activities immediately after the procedure. Very rarely blockage of facial vessels can occur.
